Chambers of commerce are some of the oldest and most venerated of business organizations in the world having begun in 1599. Historically, this makes chambers of commerce unequalled in their global influence. The Antigua and Barbuda Chamber of Commerce Limited was founded on 11th February 1944, incorporated on 29th November 1946, and operated as a company from 1st January 1947. 

We began as The Antigua Chamber of Commerce and later adding Barbuda to better reflect our twin island status. It is one of the oldest organizations in the country and by the grace of God, and perseverance of our members has endured the vicissitudes of the economy to date.

We work with local bodies such as NODS, or other regional or international organisations to obtain and disseminate information on imminent dangers or threats.

Intra‑ & extra‑chamber representation
Represent members’ interests intra‑chamber (among members) and extra‑chamber (with state organs and non‑members).

Purpose of the Chamber of Commerce

  • Promote measures to benefit the trading interests of members and the country as a whole.
  • Participate in matters pertaining to industry, trade, commerce, and manufacturing in Antigua and Barbuda to enhance the business environment.
  • Represent the opinions of the organization to responsible persons and institutions whenever necessary.
  • Promote and support legislative measures that positively affect the interests of members.
  • Oppose legislative or regulatory actions that negatively impact the business community.
  • Act as an arbitrator when requested to assist in resolving disputes related to trade, commerce, and manufacturing.
  • Encourage and promote legal investments in all sectors of the national economy.

Originally established as the Antigua Chamber of Commerce, it later included Barbuda to represent both islands, continuing to support entrepreneurs, encourage investment, and promote sustainable economic growth.
